About This Piano
Once the largest American piano manufacturer, Baldwin earned the warm nickname “America’s Favourite Piano.” Founded by Dwight Hamilton Baldwin, a piano, organ, and violin teacher, the company began as a successful dealership in the Midwest. Baldwin eventually set out to build “the best piano that could be built,” and he succeeded. By 1891 they were making uprights, and just a few years later they introduced their first grand pianos. That dedication to quality helped them build a lasting reputation that still resonates today.
The Baldwin Model M is a fantastic little baby grand that plays way bigger than its size suggests. Even at just 5’1”, it has that classic big, bold American sound with a singing quality that’s really engaging. The bass is impressively powerful and clear for such a compact piano, while the upper register is bright and bell-like, a real pleasure to play.
This particular Model M was made in 1992 and finished in a beautiful ebony polish. It’s been very well cared for over the years and remains in excellent condition. It has a rich, colourful tone and a responsive, enjoyable touch that feels lively and musical.
Priced attractively, this Baldwin Model M is a fantastic opportunity for an intermediate or advancing player looking to move up to a grand piano. Baldwin instruments were built as real workhorses, and this one is no exception, it’s ready to be played and enjoyed for many years to come.
